New Coupler for ActivID Contactless OTP Token

HID Global has recently introduced a new coupler for ActivID contactless OTP Token. OTP stands for a one-time password. This is a password that is valid for only one login session or transaction, on a computer system or other digital device. OTPs avoid a number of shortcomings that are associated with traditional (static) password-based authentication; a number of implementations also incorporate two-factor authentication by ensuring that the one-time password requires access to something a person has (such as a small keyring fob device with the OTP calculator built into it, or a smartcard or specific cellphone) as well as something a person knows (such as a PIN).

This coupler can be used with such products as:

• Pocket Token
• Token One
• *Soon to be compatible with Desktop Token*

This new coupler (BCC101P001) provides a common platform for these devices that allows
customers to initialize their products on-site.

As a consequence of this new product introduction, HID Global has decided to discontinue the manufacturing of current ActivID Contactless Couplers effective immediately. Below is some information regarding discontinued products.
