Enterprise Level ID Systems

Does your organization have multiple sites, departments, role functions, and thousands of employees to identify? Are you growing, acquiring or merging other companies and need to integrate multiple systems for secure identification? Or are you challenged with managing industry compliance across multiple business units that are now under one corporate entity?

If you answered yes to any one of the questions, you may need an enterprise ID badge solution to accommodate your organization’s complex needs.

Building an enterprise-level, multi-user ID badging system can seem complicated. Especially if you’ve got outdated components, and your management team expects you to continue using them. We’ve created a simple roadmap for addressing each part of the ID badging ecosystem so you can determine what parts may not be sufficient, or need upgrading. In doing so, you can evaluate what your organization should consider in order to accomplish your ID printing goals:

Secure ID Badge Printers:

With high volume ID printing requirements across multiple locations and various business units, enterprises with a large workforce should consider investing in a reliable, high-quality retransfer printer, especially if you are printing on composite RFID cards. With common features like high-speed printing and built-in network capabilities, there is one model that’s popular among IT leaders, for its proven track record in delivering value to its end users:  HID HDP6600 Card Printer

You may already benefit from the innovative technology built into the HID HDP6600, or a comparable ID card printer. If that’s the case, you may just want to explore our enterprise ID badge software.

ID Badge Card Personalization Software

Enterprises are constantly changing. You may be part of an organization that just had an acquisition, is rebranding, expanding, or (hopefully not) condensing. Either way, ID badge printing requirements can vary based on company size, industry, and role permission, so we want to make sure you have the right ID printing software license in place.

It’s important for organizations to distinguish that standalone network licenses, with a single workstation, only suit small businesses that have one person running the program. Enterprises need multiple IT & Security users to share across networks: a common database, multiple workstations, customizable templates, and advanced ID applications for each location or department. One way to address all of these requirements is with an enterprise application like HID Asure ID 7 Exchange Software.

Secure ID Badge Cards

Large enterprises have more robust departments, and multiple roles that vary across privileges and access levels. Unlike small- midsize businesses that manage a single location with consolidated identity management needs, corporations have to leverage ID card types that ensure identity verification & security across complex IT environments and facilities.

With more moving pieces, there’s more potential for security liabilities. With this in mind, we discourage large enterprises from using basic PVC cards, or magnetic stripe or barcode QR code technology as it is not nearly as secure nor extensive in capabilities.

We suggest high frequency 13.56Mhz encrypted RFID cards like HID iClass or Seos for customizable user permissions and secure (difficult to duplicate) credentialing, but even low frequency prox will work for some applications.

ID Badge Cameras

In order for you to maximize the use of your ID printer and your enterprise software for HID RFID cards, you need a proper camera to take a high-quality photo. We strongly advise against computer webcams, camera phones, or reuse of old images, to input onto an ID badge especially if you’re trying to effectively manage authenticated access and identity verification.

Dedicated ID Badge cameras such as the ValCam Pan Tilt Zoom ID Badging Camera are great for capturing instant high-resolution images of staff or third-party contractors with direct link via TWAIN or WIA drivers.
